I hate the fact at my uni that it feels like a war... The war... *suspense* between Digital and Analog photography!

My personal opinion which people never seem to get through their heads is that i like both, i see nothing wrong with analog photography and have used it in my time.... HOWEVER i feel that i am much stronger with a digital SLR in my hand, whats wrong with that? I also use photoshop, whats wrong with that? It frustrated me so much when people are prejudice towards digital, making stupid comments about how its not really photography, that people using it are lazy or cheating esp when using photoshop... Bla bla bla... To that i say shut up! I never insult people or look down at them when they are using more traditional methods... In fact i envy them slightly that they have the patience to sit in a dark stuffy room for hours or days for ONE image... I prefer spending my hours behind a computer, whats wrong with that? So it really annoys and hurts me when people don't treat me with the same respect! Just because my strength is different from theirs, its wrong? Or bad? I will never say analog photography is useless, its not, and i don't want it to disappear because it does have some aesthetic qualities that are appealing... But then this is MY opinion, who do people think they are, thinking that their opinion is the one that everyone must follow!

People who follow me on here KNOW how much ive been hating my course... Well you will be glad to know i finally stood up for myself! They set up a meeting where students could meet the dean of the uni and tell him what we think of the course, so i did and i feel so much happier for it... I told them how i felt there was a prejudice towards people who use digital photography and it got taken onboard and for that i am extremely happy. But this has then sparked a debate about digital VS analog, why is it even that way? Why cant there be both? I think the reason for all this upset is... Because people are scared... They are scared its going to disappear which they have a right to be... But then WHY try and force your feelings onto me and make ME feel like I should change! Why cant their be room for both types in one course without compromising the other?

People think just because im a digital photographer that im somehow happy that analog photography is slowly disappearing, im not! Im actually quite sad... But am i heartbroken about it? No because its not my MAIN focus in life but again its MY life. I am sad that there cant be room for both, but im not going to compromise my feelings and university course for SOME other peoples opinions. Atleast i want there to be room for BOTH not just one...

At the end of the day its each their own, i wont give you grief for what you want to do, or look DOWN at you... But for that i ask, please dont do it to me... Just because you use traditional methods does not mean your better than me and get the right to behave like you do.

*rant over* Sorry guys, this has been building up for a WHILE!
